Contrast Structured Shoulder Tote Bag with Zip Top in Navy and Tan

Navy and tan is a combination I trust. It reads as a considered choice rather than a safe one, and it does something a single-colour bag can’t — the tan trim draws the eye along the top line and down the strap tabs, which makes a large tote look lighter than it is. Against grey, camel, cream, denim or black it simply works.

This is a proper work bag. A 13-inch laptop lies flat with room for a folder alongside it, and unlike most totes this size it zips shut across the top. That matters more than people expect on a crowded train, and it is the difference between a bag you can set down at a café and one you have to keep an eye on.

The inside is where the money went. Royal blue lining, a zipped pocket on one wall for the things you don’t want loose, and an open slip pocket on the other for a phone or a transit card. Two pockets in a tote sounds minor until you have carried one without them and spent a week fishing around at the bottom.

One honest note: the tan trim is the lightest surface on the bag and it sits exactly where hands go. It will pick up colour from dark denim over time, the way any pale trim does. A wipe with a barely damp cloth after a wear keeps it even.
